Show Notes

"The things that have led to health have also improved my relationship with God."

Substance Dualism = The Body and Soul are two different things or substances that connect in a limited way.

Lifestyle Dualism = Separating activities that lead to physical health and spiritual health. Some behaviors are for the health of my body, and other actions are for the health of my soul.

"Everything we do affects our whole person. Everything that you do physically also is something you do spiritually, it's something you do as a person, body, and soul."

"spirit and matter, in man, are not two natures united, but rather their union forms a single nature." Catechism of the Catholic Church, 365

The God of the Gaps Fallacy = Using God as an explanation for something not understood in nature. Instead of exploring a phenomenon, God fills the gap.

The Soul of the Gaps Fallacy = Using the soul as an explanation for human experiences that are not understood.

Hylomorphism = Objects are one substance that is both form and matter. This word comes from the Greek words "hulê" (ὕλη = matter, stuff, wood) and "morphê" (μορφή = form, shape, type).

Avoid Rigorism. Rigorism is a lifestyle of extreme strictness or rigidity.

God "came alongside my will in a way that I might not have even noticed. He gave me the strength in the moment to change, to make those changes into habits, and to make those habits into virtues. Just because the Lord does not answer your prayers in the way that you expect does not mean he has abandoned you."
